One Night Only
One Night Only is a live action film about a band during the last 10 minutes leading up to what turns out to be their final performance, the film is a Capstone Film directed by Hannah Mai and written by Matthew Sly.
I was brought onto the film as an animator for the SAE University College Cut of the film. Hannah’s vision for the animation was for small sketch-like animations to appear parts of film to emphasize the characters emotions and surroundings. Our animation style for the film was inspired by the animated visuals in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
Concepts were drawn early into the Capstone Pre-Production planning stage. In these concepts I drew up what animations could appear, then I showed Hannah and Matt to get their input on what they thought suited the film and what concepts could be reworked.

Most of the test animations tested out different styles we could go for. This ranges from the animations be animated to look like its been drawn onto the screen to what animations could appear in the final film. The style for the animations is inspired by the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and comic sketches.
